About Disciple the Nations
After sixteen years in pastoral ministry, Tim found himself pastoring a large church complete with the opportunities for preaching at various conferences throughout each year as well as the radio. He and his family enjoyed the country life complete with a million dollar view. Life was good for the Miller family, yet, there was a growing since of dissatisfaction within Tim. He yearned to do a better job of producing the disciples Jesus demanded and found himself frustrated with trying to achieve this objective working with denominational and non-denominational churches. However, the biggest hindrances to making disciples were not the churches Tim pastored, but within himself.
Over a period of months, God led Tim and Lane Ann through a series of events which greatly tested their faith. The all-searching gaze of the Lord preceded His question to Tim, "Will you serve me at any cost?" Eventually, Tim's broken response came forth. "Yes, Lord, I will serve you at any cost."
In the beginning, Tim and his wife thought this new submission to God was leading them to serve as full-time missionaries in Ukraine. However, the Lord merely used this opportunity to break the Millers away from their church body and small farm they so loved.
During the next few weeks, more directives from the Lord followed. The Holy Spirit was slowly bringing Tim to the end of himself. God called the Millers to resign their church, surrender their income, and burn their denominational and educational bridges. If the ministry of the Miller family was to prosper, it would be through God's credentials alone.
Several months later, the Miller farm was sold, "good byes" had been said, and the family found themselves temporarily residing in a house located on Lake Barkley in western Kentucky. Funds were exhausted as were food and fuel. In the stronghold of stubborn brokenness the Millers cried out to God to reveal Himself amidst the clouds of uncertainty for that very morning the children were eating the last box of cereal. God had given Tim the verse "...open your mouth wide and I will fill it." (Psalm 81:10 NASB)
Like baby birds crying for their mother to drop sustenance into their mouths, the Millers cried out for the Lord's provision. That evening, a lady knocked on the door. Upon entering, she stated God had spoken to her and her husband the previous night and they were supposed to help support the new ministry to which God had called the Millers. She placed two one hundred dollar bills upon the table.
That simple act of obedience started a landslide of provision from the Lord that has been nothing short of supernatural. The resolve to the Lord from the beginning was, "Lord, we want to look back and say - 'Only God could have done that.'"
God has proven Himself faithful again and again. Time and space do not permit the description of all His provisions. The Millers have learned God will provide everything needed to accomplish His work through those who submit their all to Him. The key is to wait upon His timing. To date, God has not allowed DTN to participate in overt fundraising but to simply tell the story. The Miller's constant prayer has been for God to help them find favor in the eyes and hearts of those He brings across their path. This has been their sole means of raising financial support.
Since those difficult meager beginnings, God has allowed DTN to train many leaders from around the world in disciple making. Additionally, DTN's national headquarters are presently being constructed in Trenton, Kentucky where God provided a tract of land for this purpose. They hope to train disciple makers to impact tens of thousands of disciples around the globe.
