International Ministry
The international ministry of Disciple the Nations addresses the training, curriculum, and financial needs of indigenous leaders and their ministries. It is the vision of Disciple the Nations to unite sister nations in joining hands until the fire of disciple making sweeps across each continent.
To date, in the last eight years, we have traveled to over twenty nations in an effort to train indigenous leaders how to produce disciples. Virtually everywhere we have traveled, the church has needed a handle for the concept of disciple making. In other words, they have been very receptive to the mandate to make disciples but lacked a practical way to carry it out. Consequently, our strategy has been to start with the basics by systematically studying the great commission of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) in an effort to establish a fresh surrender and vision for fulfilling Christ's mandate to "make disciples of all nations." Secondly, we are providing practical strategies for carrying out this newly discovered vision to produce disciples.
This training has often culminated into the formation of small training centers called DTC's (discipleship training centers). In these centers, would-be disciples come for training in the basic mechanics of disciple making and are thus held accountable through the mentoring relationships that occur during the teaching process. Additionally, many pastors return to their places of service and begin disciple-making ministries. Evangelism is enhanced and many churches are naturally planted through the multiplication process.
Disciple the Nations not only seeks to provide a solution for the lack of biblical training in the area of making disciples, but also the needed curriculum for such purposes. However, we believe the solution is teaching others to build the much needed discipleship curriculum using the scriptures themselves. In this manner, the discipler never runs out of curriculum to teach and can always customize his approach with each disciple since all discipleship opportunities are unique.
Suppose you were a believer or church leader in another country and the only Christian literature you possessed was the bible in your native language without explanatory or study notes in your bible. Cross-referencing notes in the margins and the concordance usually in the back of most English translations had been eliminated. How would you learn to study the scripture? How would you produce curriculum? Is it any wonder why most church leaders in other countries are screaming to be sent to Bible College or seminary?
Since most of these church leaders will never be able to attend a bible college or seminary, Disciple the Nations has sought to provide a solution to this dilemma by providing a resource tool. This resource is in the form of a training manual titled "30x60x100." (For more information please check out our products)
It is our belief this simple manual can provide everything a church leader needs to be able to handle most bible references with accuracy and confidence. Accordingly, the manual is set up to train leaders how to develop discipleship curriculum for literate and non-literate disciples alike. The manual includes a detailed outline of both the old and new testaments, a section on understanding biblical context when interpreting various texts, five bible study methods clearly presented with examples, and many ways to develop and customize curriculum.
"30x60x100" is useful in training disciples in the local church as well as abroad. The simple strategy and easy-to-follow format make this an ideal tool for small groups, discipling new believers, preparing for mission trips, and equipping leaders overseas to train disciples.
Finally, the financial needs of ministries overseas are staggering. To help deal with this great need, Disciple the Nations has been working closely alongside overseas leaders to effectively develop local means to raise the badly needed funds to support ministry. We are challenging indigenous denominations, sister churches, and fellow disciples to work together in order to meet these needs. Our basic philosophy is to cut long-term financial dependence from the western hemisphere by providing the means necessary for financial independence and stability among our foreign brothers.
This philosophy is accomplished in the following ways:
- Setting up business loans to be paid back into a community bank thereby using the initial investment again and again.
- Investing in renewable resources such as livestock, fisheries, poultry and pig farms.
- One time investment providing machines for residual income - solar powered fruit dehydrators, corn grinding machines, sewing machines, etc.
- Brainstorming for local ways to earn income - selling home cooked meals to places of business, selling drinks at football fields, buying vegetables in the villages and selling them in the city, etc.
- Sharing ideas, techniques and crafts from neighboring countries for sale in the market place.
